Vinegar is a versatile product that has a wide range of uses and benefits. There are several types of vinegar, including white distilled, cider, balsamic and a number of other specialty vinegars. White distilled vinegar is the most common form, and has a variety of uses.

Health

According to VinegarTips.com, white distilled vinegar has a wide range of health uses. It can be used to ease the pain of a sunburn, relieve itching caused by insect bites and as an antiseptic for minor scrapes. Vinegar has also been shown to help soothe a sore throat, and help clear up chest congestion and sinus infections when used in a vaporizer.

Laundry

VinegarTips.com states that vinegar can be used in the laundry room to bring out bright colors, remove musky smells, remove perspiration stains and help prevent clinging of lint. Vinegar can even remove salt stains from boots and shoes when combined with an equal portion of water.

Lawn & Garden

Full strength white distilled vinegar can be sprayed on weeds to eliminate them from unwanted areas. You can also mix 2 tbsp. of vinegar with 2 tbsp. of sugar and a quart of water to help extend the life of fresh cut flowers.

Kitchen

According to The Vinegar Institute, vinegar can also serve several other purposes in the kitchen in addition to its use in a variety of recipes. It can be used to remove unwanted odors from garbage disposals and refrigerators, clean stainless steel appliances, and clean and disinfect wood cutting boards. Washing counter tops and cabinets with white vinegar can also help deter ants, which can be a common problem in kitchens.

Miscellaneous

The Vinegar Institute lists an array of other miscellaneous uses for vinegar. Vinegar is beneficial in helping to keep fleas and pests at bay when added by the teaspoon to a pet's drinking water. Vinegar can also help prevent frost formation on windshields, help remove bumper stickers and soften hardened paintbrushes, among an array of other uses.
