Whether you want to liven up a family get-together or just give the kids something fun to do, there are games to play that will have everyone rolling with laughter. Fun family outdoor games do not have to be the tried and true games you have been playing for years. With a little imagination and a few items from around the house, fun family outdoor games can move to a new level.

Goffle

Goffle, or golf baseball, is an excellent take-a-long outdoor game for the whole family. From toddlers to teens, the kids will love Goffle, a cross between golf and wiffle ball. All you need to play an exciting game of Goffle is a wiffle ball, a plastic bat and a large, empty plastic coffee can. To make the game truly challenging, use six large, empty coffee cans and position them strategically around the yard or picnic area. This game is similar to miniature golf, so be creative; you will be amazed at what the kids can come up with. You can make the game easier by allowing players to hit the ball on the ground as they would a golf ball, or you can make it challenging by requiring players to hit the ball in the air like they would a baseball.

Stuff-Stacle Course

Look around the house and yard for stuff the kids have long forgotten, such as Hula Hoops, old swimming noodles, a baby pool, a soccer ball, a tricycle, plastic coffee cans and empty foil drink pouches, to name a few. Now build an obstacle course with the items you found. Line the kids up at the starting point, and using a stopwatch, time each child as they go through the course. For example, pick up the Hula Hoop, ride the tricycle to the baby pool, drop the Hula Hoop, pick up an empty coffee can, and fill the can with the empty foil drink pouches. Get back on the tricycle, and ride to the swimming noodles, drop the can and see how many noodles you can carry while riding the tricycle to the soccer balls. Push a soccer ball only with the noodles to the finish line. The person with the best time wins.

Fill 'Er Up!

This is a perfect summer game for the whole gang and a delightful child's party game. Each player gets a bucket, five ping-pong balls and a water cannon. Each player stands 6 feet from the bucket, and on "go," each team member tries to fill his bucket with water until the ping-pong balls float out. The first player to knock all five balls out of the bucket wins. Players need access to water to refill their cannons.

Spoodle Race

Racing from point A to point B is a challenge as you race around the yard, trying not to drop your noodles. You will need a bowl of dry, uncooked macaroni noodles, and one tablespoon for each player. Mark the start and finish line, and several points in between to make it really challenging. Fill each spoon to the top with noodles. On "go," each player races through the course to the finish line; the player with the most noodles, wins.
