Making the same facial expressions over and over, lost elasticity through age and even sun damage can lead to wrinkles around the eyes and forehead. The delicate skin around these areas has less fat and collagen to keep it looking young and smooth. To fight wrinkles around the eyes and forehead, use start with skin cream, but use facial exercises, stress reduction and less sun exposure as well.

Step 1

Avoid sunlight. Sun damage can cause thin skin to wrinkle prematurely, says KidsHealth.org, a division of the Nemours Foundation. Excessive sunlight exposure could result in squinting, which can cause wrinkles around the eyes and forehead. If you are going to be in the sun, apply a good, high-SPF sunscreen, and wear a hat or sunglasses to minimize squinting.

Step 2

Relax your face several times per day, especially if make the same facial expressions over and over. Set an alarm on your computer, and take a break, rubbing your eyes and focusing on relaxing your face. Take time each day to focus on stress reduction and relaxation; light a few candles, and close your eyes while listening to calming music as you visualize your relaxed face.

Step 3

Apply a cream that contains vitamin A, "The New York Times" recommends. Vitamin A helps reduce sun damage and can help repair the skin, giving it renewed elasticity and reducing wrinkles. The cosmetic forms of vitamin A, retinol and retin-A, can cause reactions for sensitive skin, such as peeling and redness. But they can help stimulate collagen production, resulting in younger-looking skin, especially in thin areas where collagen production generally is low.

Step 4

Exfoliate your face with a product that contains alpha hydroxy acids, or AHAs. These products gently exfoliate by dissolving dead skin cells and speeding cell turnover for younger-looking skin, the Mayo Clinic says. AHAs can be used around the eye and forehead area to renew skin's appearance, but they can leave the skin susceptible to sun damage, so protect your skin for up to a week after using AHAs to exfoliate.

Step 5

Do weekly facial exercises to help strengthen the muscles around the eyes and forehead for firmer, tauter skin. Place your forefinger on your forehead directly between your eyebrows, and push down. Raise your eyebrows against the pressure. Or, stretch your face by opening your eyes wide, then sticking out your tongue as far as it will go. You'll be able to find temporary relief from eye wrinkles and strengthen the areas around them.

Things You'll Need

  • Vitamin A cream
  • Alpha hydroxy cream
  • Hat
  • Relaxation aids
