Facial hair growth in men depends on genetics and hormone levels. Some men grow facial hair faster than others. Some men grow hair faster on some areas of the face than other areas. Due to normal hair growth cycles, it can take four to six weeks to grow that lustrous beard you have always wanted, but there are a few steps you can take to speed up the process a little.

Step 1

Take 2.5 mg of biotin daily to stimulate hair growth, according toJeffrey Benabio, MD, FAAD. Biotin is a dietary supplement that helps build protein in the body, assisting with healthy nail and hair growth. Increasing biotin in the body will lead to faster hair growth.

Step 2

Wash your facial hair with an over-the-counter dandruff shampoo one to two times a week. This will help with any irritation due to the new hair growth. Massage the shampoo into the hair growth to stimulate and increase blood flow to the hair follicles.

Step 3

Apply a hydrocortisone cream to the hair growth daily to relieve itching, recommends Dr. Benabio. Scratching will only inhibit hair growth and damage the skin, possibly forming a noticeable rash on your face. According to an online article on Care Fair, you should avoid scratching altogether.

Step 4

Trim or shape your hair growth if it is growing in a spotty formation. This will ensure that the growth is even throughout each growth phase. Avoid shaving or trimming larger amounts of hair growth, as this will slow the process.

Things You'll Need

  • Biotin 2.5 mg
