1. Meet the Goal Half Way
Jenny Craig pre-packaged meals are one of the key ingredients to the diet's success. The pre-packaged meals take the guesswork out of meal and snack preparation. You eat the pre-packaged meals everyday until you make it to the half way point of your goal weight loss. Spend the first half of your journey focusing on making yourself healthier and save the worry of food preparation until your hit the halfway mark.
2. Take it a day at a Time
The Jenny Craig program supports you through the entire weight loss process. At the halfway point, your personal consultant will direct you to prepare your own meals and snacks for one day of the week. The other six days of the week are the same as before with the pre-packaged meals. The margin for error is small with this step down program. The next week you will prepare for two days worth of meals and snacks. Work with your Jenny Craig personal consultant to ensure that your self-made meals are nutritious and within the caloric ranges for your weight loss goals and maintenance.
3. Keep up With Your Classes
It is a powerful feeling to be taking control of your diet at home. The classes about nutrition and meal planning are crucial to your success. Be sure to attend your weekly scheduled classes and take notes and any tips offered. Talk with other members who are making the transition and share recipes. Get advice on how to manage portions, eating out and preparing meals for the whole family.
4. Round up Some Recipes
Gather some healthy recipes from your Jenny Craig materials and cookbooks recommended by your Jenny Craig personal consultant. You have made great changes to your eating habits and lifestyle. Make a few more simple alterations to keep your success going. Write up a few of your favorite new recipes on cards and keep them on your counter in a recipe box or on your refrigerator. Check the ingredients for the new recipes before you hit the grocery store. Stock up on these items, so you have them on hand when it is time to prepare your meals.
5. Two Steps Forward, one Step Back
You will make mistakes preparing your own meals and snacks. This is normal and part of the learning process. Make notes in your food journal to take with you when you meet with your Jenny Craig personal consultant. The weight loss process is difficult and frustrating at times. Embrace your mistakes and learn from them. Share your success and downfalls with other class members for support and guidance during this transition to home made cooking.
