Zits are nasty little pustules that always seem to pop up at the most inopportune times. Acne is well known as a bane of the teenage years but breakouts often occur in older people as well. There are many treatments for pimples including ones containing strong chemicals that can dry and damage your skin. There are also expensive laser procedures that some people invest in for blemish-free skin. Many, however, choose to utilize home remedies to get rid of zits.

Step 1

Create a homemade paste to treat your acne. Mix 1 oz. ground fenugreek leaves, avocado, ripe tomatoes or orange peels with enough water to make a thick mixture that can be applied directly to pimples.

Step 2

Apply a juice to zits to help aid healing. Use 1 tsp. lemon juice or mix 1 tsp. coriander juice with a small pinch of turmeric powder.

Step 3

Rub 1/4 cup grated cucumber or 1/4 cup smashed garlic on your zits. Allow the substance to remain on your pimples for 15 minutes per day.

Step 4

Treat internally with vitamins known to help heal zits and help keep them from reoccurring. Take 100 mg niacin three times daily. Also, add 400 mg vitamin E to your daily supplement regimen. Increase the amount of vitamin A in your diet to help clear the skin. You can do this by eating carrots twice a week.

Step 5

Drink a mixture of 1 tsp. honey in 8 oz. lukewarm water. Add the juice of half a lemon. According to Grandma's Home Remedies website, this breakfast beverage aids the healing of blemishes.

Step 6

Bathe in Epsom salts once a day for 30 minutes or more to aid in the healing of blemishes. Use very warm water.

Tips and Warnings

  • Avoid wearing sweaty bandanas or head scarves that can clog pores and lead to breakouts. Pull back long hair to help prevent acne on your face as well. Be careful not to scrub your face and other areas with breakouts as this can worsen your condition.
  • Test any application you plan to use on your acne on a small area before applying liberally. You can have adverse reactions even to all natural treatments. Keep your hands off your zits. The oil in your hands and manipulating the pustules will only worsen your condition.
