Indigestion can be uncomfortable, painful and embarrassing. Not only do specific foods lead to indigestion but stress and anxiety play a large role in proper digestion. Homeopathy is an effective, noninvasive way to treat your abdominal complaints and the emotional states that can be accompanied by them. Homeopathy can be used to treat symptoms of indigestion, such as gas, bloating and diarrhea, and can often return the system to balance and create health.
Nux Vomica
Nux Vomica is probably the most commonly used homeopathic for indigestion due to over-eating and over-drinking, especially when rich, spicy, fried foods, sweets and alcohol are involved. In general, Nux Vomica is administered when you have nausea, vomiting, heartburn, gas and bloating.
Lycopodium
Lycopodium is beneficial when indigestion includes gas and bloating with constipation. The symptoms are related to times when you overindulge or are nervous about stressful events. According to a study done by the University of Maryland Medical Center, some homeopaths recommend Lycopodium for the indigestion associated with colic.
Arsenica Album
Arsenica Album treats symptoms involving violent diarrhea with undigested food in the stool, putrid gas with bloating and a burning sensation typically described in heartburn. Dr. Roger Morrison describes in his book, "Desktop Guide to Keynotes and Confirmatory Symptoms," that many of the burning sensations can also be related to peptic and gastric ulcers. Arsenica Album has also been commonly used for the indigestion secondary to food poisoning.
