1. Check the Price Tag
The NutriSystem diet program is known for its celebrity representation and its pre-packaged food, which is shipped straight to your door. You order from several different plans, approximately every 28 days. It is shelf stable and can be prepared in a matter of minutes in the microwave or longer using a conventional oven. It does need to be supplemented by foods that you have to purchase in your local grocery store. Items that need to be supplemented are dairy, fresh fruits, vegetables and salads. This can make the cost considerably more. By buying all your items from the grocery store, you can plan your meals and buy only the items that you need. You can also purchase items on sale and plan your menus around your likes and dislikes.
2. Pre-packaged Convenience vs. Fresh Food
Many dieters find pre-packaged food more convenient, because they do not have to worry about preparing meals. It doesn't take as much time to microwave a meal from NutriSystem as it does to prepare a meal from scratch. NutriSystem's pre-packaged meals are perfectly portioned and there is no measuring, weighing or counting calories. When preparing meals from the grocery store, a dieter may be tempted to eat larger portions.
3. Control What Goes Into Your Food
When preparing the foods from the grocery store, you control everything that goes into the food. From spices and salts, you are in control of the quality and taste of your food. If you like spicy food, you can spice up food from the grocery store, however, this is not an option with the NutriSystem prepared meals. You can try new foods any time you like, unlike having to wait until the next time you order from NutriSystem. Learning to prepare healthy alternatives may not be appealing for all dieters.
