4 Ways to Cleanse With Integral Yoga

1. Kriya Yoga

Integral yoga was founded by Swami Satchidananda with centers throughout the United States. In Integral yoga, you are told the goal of all yoga is to be able to sit still in meditation. And various cleansing techniques are taught and practiced to this end. Kriya yoga was brought to the U.S. by Paramahansa Yogananda, who was made famous by his book "Autobiography of a Yogi." Kriya yoga is for cleansing. Kriya practices healing techniques such as neti, which is nasal cleansing. Shankara prakshalana in Kriya is a practice of a certain intake of spring water, intermittent exercises and a follow-up of small amounts of cooked basmati rice with mung beans to release toxins in the body.

2. Cleanse With Whole Foods

Whole foods, organic and healthy vegetarian food is part of Integral Yoga. These people are vegetarians. For cleansing they maintain pure diets. Sometimes members may do light fasting, but generally it is not necessary because they eat good food every day. Plenty of whole grains like basmati and brown rices are eaten, as well as other grains like millet, spelt, and buckwheat. Sea vegetables are, of course, part of a wholesome diet, balancing the body with trace minerals. Proper minerals and vitamins found in whole foods build strong immune systems that are able to keep organs like the liver and kidneys functioning well for proper cleansing and elimination. Organic fresh vegetables and some fruit from the local health food stores or farmers markets are sought out by these people. Good spring water is used without fluoride or pollutants commonly found in city water supplies.

3. Hatha Yoga Exercises

Hatha yoga is the yoga that is very popular in the U.S. This is the yoga of postures or asanas, stretches and strength building. The goal of hatha yoga in Integral Yoga is also for cleansing to the end that a person can sit in meditation without fidgeting and being uncomfortable. Hatha yoga is an exercise regimen that promotes circulation, fitness and physical health. It is a practice that has an array of many exercises for beginners to advanced. Keeping physically fit by using hatha yoga helps to keep a person trim, flexible and in shape promoting overall health and cleansing. A healthy body has the ability to release toxins naturally. Cleansing is not all about drinking lots of water and fasting, but it is about a healthy lifestyle, getting proper exercise, working out and sweating at times, eating right. But exercise is essential.

4. Pranayama Cleanses

Integral yoga uses breath techniques called pranayama to cleanse also. This is an ancient tradition in yoga. Techniques such as breathing to a certain count of numbers or mantric syllables is practiced. The breath will be held for a certain count and released. Visualization may accompany breathing techniques, seeing the release of toxins and negativity with the release of air. Oxygen and breath is as basic and essential to life as food and sleep. Integral yoga followers understand the importance of breathing properly and fully to fill the lungs to capacity and to bring oxygen deep into the cells and atoms of the body. Thereby the body will be comfortable to sit and meditate.
