Parents who experience difficulty communicating with their children or controlling their children's disruptive or destructive behavior have many options to solve behavior problems. From residential programs to wilderness experiences and summer camps, programs for children often combine behavioral counseling with challenging and fun activities to boost kids' confidence in themselves and ability to interact positively with others. Look for a program that target's your child's specific needs, whether your child is a troubled teen or diagnosed with a specific condition like ADHD or Asperger's Syndrome.

Catherine Freer Wilderness Therapy Programs

Catherine Freer Wilderness Therapy Programs have been operating since 1988 and focus on using the outdoor resources of the Pacific Northwest to solve behavioral problems. Wilderness therapy programs promote self-reliance, confidence and motivation to change, and focus on improving the overall physical, mental and emotional health of the child. Catherine Freer also provides family workshops and counseling and give parents ongoing feedback on their child's progress during the wilderness program. Wilderness therapy is one of three programs children can be enrolled in at Catherine Freer, along with the Santiam Crossing School, which provides children the opportunity for academic study in an outdoor environment, and the Oregon Transition Homes program, which provides teens behavioral counseling in a residential home stay.
