As you age, your skin loses its natural elasticity and begins to sag. This is often most noticeable around the eyes, mouth, along the jaw line and on the neck. Although cosmetic surgery procedures provide the most dramatic improvements in sagging skin, home remedies can offer temporary improvements that are effective and affordable.

Egg Whites

According to Dr. Jerome Z. Litt at the University School of Medicine in Cleveland, a facial mask made of egg whites is an effective face tightening home remedy. To make the mask, take one or two egg whites and whip them into a froth. Apply the egg whites to your face and neck. Leave the mask on for at least half an hour then rinse it off with cool water. Do not use this home remedy if you have known allergies to eggs. Use this mask about once a week for best results.

Honey

Like egg whites, honey is another natural ingredient that can be used as a face-tightening home remedy. Honey is a humectant, which means that it is able to retain moisture in the skin, improving elasticity. This property makes it ideal in treating wrinkles and tightening sagging facial skin. The simplest way to use honey as a home remedy is to just apply a thin layer to the skin. Leave it on for about 15 to 30 minutes, then rinse it off with cool water.

Lemon Juice and Witch Hazel

Lemon juice and witch hazel are natural astringents that are used in many home remedies to treat sagging skin. An astringent is a substance that causes tissues in the face to contract and tighten. Both lemon juice and witch hazel are effective in temporarily tightening skin when applied directly to the face. They can be used separately or as a mixture. One of the easiest recipes involves mixing a teaspoon of lemon juice with two tablespoons of witch hazel, and applying it to the face with a cotton ball. If you have sensitive or overly dry skin, dilute this mixture with water before applying it to your face.
