How to Cleanse Your Colon Without Pills

The colon, also known as the large intestine, is responsible for sending digested food through the kidneys and prepare it to be excreted from the body. There are many pills on the market that can help you clean your colon if it's clogged or not working properly. But there are natural ways to clean your intestines out if you do not feel comfortable putting medication into your system.

Step 1

Consult with your doctor or physician to determine what the best method is for you to clean your colon. It is also important to determine if your clogged colon is due to another disease or cause. Give your physician all of the information necessary to allow him to make an accurate diagnosis.

Step 2

Add fiber into your daily diet. This can be through eating more fruit, seeds or simply adding fiber supplements such as fiber crackers into your daily routine. Fiber, according to Colon Cleanse Central, is the food group people do not get enough of. Examples of good fiber foods are bread, beans, fruit and flax seed. Fiber absorbs liquid and can expand inside our system to fill the digestive system tracts. The body pushes fiber straight through the digestive system, and it takes with it any impurities inside the colon.

Step 3

Cut your meat consumption in half, ColonCleanse-r says. To replace the lost calories, double your vegetable consumption. Eat salads and juice with every meal. The juices should be 100 percent natural and the salads should be either plain or covered in non-fat dressing.

Cut down on sugar, processed foods, coffee, soda and tea, too. Some add fat, and none are necessary parts of your diet. They simply clog up the colon, making it more difficult to regulate itself.

Step 4

Drink plenty of water. Water goes right through your system and can help flush out your colon. It will also cause you to go to the bathroom more often, helping to clean out your digestive system. ColonCleanse-r suggests drinking four liters of water per day.

Step 5

Consume colon cleansing herbs. Examples include garlic, senna, fennel, psyllium and cascara sagrada. These herbs help remove fecal matter stuck to the lining of the colon. They also help clean all the basic elements of your digestive system, including the colon, kidneys, lymphatic system and the lungs. Keeping all of these areas clean diminishes the number of impurities that go through the body and, in turn, the impurities that go through the colon.

Step 6

Go to the bathroom more often. It is both dangerous and unhealthy to hold it in if you have to go. Having bowel movements helps flush your system out and helps clean and regulate your colon.
