Amrix, known by the generic name cyclobenzaprine hydrochloride, is a medication in a classification of drugs known as muscle relaxants. According to Drugs.com, it works by blocking nerve impulses sent to the brain. Amrix is used for the treatment of muscle spasms related to muscular injury. Amrix should be used for an acute period of injury, but not for a period of longer than two to three weeks. There are some side effects of Amrix that users should be aware of.

Dizziness and Fatigue

Users may experience dizziness and fatigue while taking Amrix. Patients may feel more tired and sleepy than usual. Patients should use extreme caution while driving or completing tasks which can be dangerous until the full effects of Amrix 15mg are understood. Dizziness and fatigue may diminish over time as the body adjusts to Amrix. Getting at least eight to 10 hours of sleep nightly may help reduce the incidence of day time drowsiness. According to Drugs.com, cold or allergy medicine, narcotic pain medicine, sleeping pills and medicine for seizures, depression or anxiety can add to sleepiness caused by Amrix. If dizziness is accompanied by chest pain, blurred vision, pain radiating to the arm or jaw, or fainting it may be a sign of something serious and a physician should be contacted immediately.

Nausea and Loss of Appetite

Patients may experience nausea and a loss of appetite while taking Amrix 15mg. Taking Amrix with food may help lessen gastrointestinal side effects. Eating a bland diet and avoiding spicy or fatty foods can help alleviate nausea. Patients should be instructed to eat smaller meals more frequently throughout the day. A severe loss of appetite can lead to weight loss and dehydration, which may be dangerous. The use of liquid nutritional supplements can help provide the recommended daily nutrients. If loss of appetite becomes severe, a physician should be notified promptly.

Muscle Weakness and Tremors

Patients can experience muscle weakness and tremors while taking Amrix. Operation of dangerous machinery or driving while taking Amrix should be avoided until the patient understands how this medication affects him, according to PDR Health. Severe muscle weakness and tremors should be reported to a doctor who might consider altering the patient's medication regimen.
