6 Things to Know About Jazzercise

1. Dance Your Way to Fitness

Jazzercise is a fitness program that uses resistance training, elements of yoga and elements of dancing to help people reach their fitness goals. Using some basic dance steps and workout moves, Jazzercise can benefit people of all ages and fitness levels. Each Jazzercise class lasts for one hour and includes a warm-up session, 30 minutes of cardiovascular training to music with an up-beat tempo, the use of weights to tone and strengthen muscles and ends with a stretching routine.

2. Take it Easy With a Lite Workout

Jazzercise Lite is a program designed for people who prefer a lower impact exercise class. A one hour Jazzercise Lite class focuses on flexibility, balance and strength and is geared toward people who like the Jazzercise concept but who want to keep their workouts a little less intense than the original class.

3. Sculpting and Toning are Taught Here

You can take a class geared toward toning and strengthening muscles with Jazzercise. The Body Sculpting class is 40 to 50 minutes long and focuses primarily on toning the large muscle groups. With the Personal Touch program, smaller class sizes enable you to benefit from more personal training with your Jazzercise instructor as you work with weights to improve your overall strength and appearance. Your instructor helps you by ensuring proper execution of the sculpting moves and weight training.

4. Get the Kids Involved

Kids of all ages can enjoy Jazzercise in either a Junior class or a Team Dance class. Junior Jazzercise caters to children anywhere from six to 11 years old, and teaches them the importance of nutrition and exercise in order to help form lifelong habits of physical fitness. Teenagers can get involved with Team Dance and get a fun workout while dancing to up-tempo, contemporary music. Junior Jazzercise and Team Dance allow children to develop strength and coordination and understand the need for daily exercise to maintain a high level of fitness.

5. Shake it Up With Different Equipment

You can use different equipment while taking a Jazzercise class. In Jazzercise Step, you get an aerobic workout that your instructor choreographs to fast-paced music using a step bench. In Jazzercise Circuit Training, you can use weights, balls and resistance bands to add to your aerobic workout.
