Natural Bragg apple cider vinegar has numerous health benefits, many of which are apparent after only several days of use, according to Paul C. Bragg, author of "Apple Cider Vinegar: Miracle Health System." While apple cider vinegar may be considered somewhat of a folk remedy, there are many who swear by its curative powers for a wide variety of ailments.
Reduce Bad Breath
Natural apple cider vinegar like Bragg has a high acidity level, usually between 5 and 7 percent. For this reason, Bragg apple cider vinegar is excellent when used as a mouthwash for occasional or chronic bad breath, commonly referred to as halitosis. To make natural apple cider vinegar mouthwash, simply add 1 tablespoon to 6 ounces of water and gargle the mixture for 10 to 15 seconds. If you prefer, you can add a bit of lemon juice or clove powder as well to alter the flavor.
Remedy for Diarrhea
Bragg apple cider vinegar contains a high level of pectin because it is made from fully matured whole apples. The high pectin level in Bragg apple cider vinegar can help create a protective coating in the colon, which in turn helps soothe the lining of the colon. To help treat diarrhea, mix 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water in the morning and before an evening meal.
Treat Eczema
Eczema and dermatitis are common skin conditions that lead to swollen, itchy, irritated and red skin. Natural apple cider vinegar is mentioned as a common folk remedy for skin problems like eczema and acne in Dr. Earl Mindell's book "Amazing Apple Cider Vinegar."
Treat Athlete's Foot
Apple cider vinegar can be used to get rid of athlete's foot, according to Cynthia Holzapfel, author of "Apple Cider Vinegar for Weight Loss and Good Health." To use apple cider vinegar to treat athlete's foot, soak your feet twice a day in a mixture that is half warm water and half apple cider vinegar.
Reduce Body Odor
Because of natural cider vinegar's high acidity level, it is an excellent natural remedy for body odor. Apple cider vinegar can be applied to the underarms and feet with clean cotton balls up to twice a day, either straight or diluted with 10 to 20 percent water.
