1. Join a Bowling League

There are actually very few requirements for blind bowlers, as most do not require any assisting devices to compete. The bowler picks up the ball and stands with his leg against the ball return. Then, the visually impaired bowler takes measured strides to move into the right position. Once he's set up, all he needs to do is release the ball, just like anyone else would. The most assistance that a blind or low vision bowler might require is a large marker to indicate the center of the lane. This is a simple plastic transfer marker. Anyone can roll up the transfer and move it to the various lanes through league play.
2. Bowling Tournaments
To compete in bowling tournaments, the blind bowler must register with all other bowlers. Since there is no difference in scoring, the blind bowler participates on a level playing field with sighted bowlers. Bowling tournaments and usually organized by teams, so join a competitive bowling team in your local area. It is a great way to make friends, compete and have fun. Individual competitions are also organized at the same bowling tournaments. Add your name to the list of competitors and approach the tournament organizers and judges to discuss any concerns you have about the rules where they concern blind bowlers. Address any issues before the tournament, so that you can focus on the bowling on the day of the event.
3. International Blind Blowing Competitions
There are many international bowling competitions, including blind and partially sighted bowling competitions. To find out about them, contact your local institute for the blind and ask them to direct you to the local team. Discuss their competitive plans for the year and see if they fit your schedule. When traveling internationally for a blind bowling league, provide the airline with advance notice to ensure your equipment is handled properly. Alternately, send your bowling equipment ahead via courier. This method reduces the number of bags at the airport, dramatically reduces the chance of lost luggage, and the additional cost is minimal.
