Toxins are harmful substances that can cause illness and harm your body, so it is vital that you remove them. Your body is constantly bombarded by toxins daily: medications you consume, chemicals from the food you eat and the air you breathe. Toxins that remain in your body too long can harm your kidneys and liver, reduce your metabolism and cause digestive problems. However, many methods can be used to cleanse your body of toxins.
Step 1
Drink 8 to 12 glasses of clean water daily. Consuming enough water will help boost and strengthen your liver and kidneys so they can remove toxins from your body. Also, drinking enough water will cool your body temperature and flush out disease-causing germs and their waste products.
Step 2
Take a vitamin C supplement once a day to help detoxify your liver. Vitamin C helps your liver manufacture glutathione, an antioxidant that aids your liver in processing and eliminating toxins from your body. In addition, eat three to four servings of healthy fruits and vegetables rich in vitamin C daily. Sources of vitamin C-rich foods include all citrus fruits, bell peppers, tomatoes and broccoli.
Step 3
Eat one to two servings of fiber-rich foods daily. Your liver processes the toxins that enter your body and takes them directly to your digestive system. Where there is a sufficient amount of fiber in your stomach, fiber binds to the toxins with food and is removed with your next bowel movement. When your digestive system doesn't have enough fiber, the toxins recirculate in your blood, and your liver becomes overworked because it has to process the toxins again. Dietary sources of fiber include flaxseeds, prunes, raisins, barley, beans and whole grains.
Step 4
Exercise for one hour every day to strengthen your cardiovascular system. Exercising helps deliver oxygen to your kidneys and liver, allowing them to remove toxins faster. Make sure to consult your physician before starting an exercise program.
