1. Measure up Your Goal
Step off the scale and start a new plan. Measure your waistline and record your result. Dr. Oz recommends that your waist measure 32 inches or less, if you are a woman, and 35 inches or less, if you are a man. Stop measuring your success in pounds and start your new focus on reducing your waistline. One great indicator of long lasting health is gauging the amount of fat you carry around your middle. Set your goal based on your waist, not the dial on your bathroom scale.
2. Rearrange Your Diet
On your mark, get set, eat. There are many foods that fill you up and give your body the fuel it needs to be happy, healthy and full. Take stock of your cupboard. Fill your kitchen with feel-good healthy foods like fresh fruits and vegetables, fish, raw nuts and low fat dairy. Dr. Oz reports that fresh is best when it comes to healthy eating. Cut the sugar, high fructose corn syrup, hydrogenated oil, bleached flour and enriched flour out of your diet. Beware of these five simple ingredients sneaking into your diet where you least expect it, like fruit juices, snack foods and chewing gum.
3. Exercise to Lose Inches
You can change your diet and see some inches fall off during your weekly measuring, but exercise is a key factor in the Dr. Oz diet. You will increase your weekly exercise to include an hour of cardio training, weight or lift training and stretching. The combination of these exercises increase your heart rate, tone muscles and strengthen your core. The exercise you add to your program is designed to help you lose the unhealthy fat that surrounds your tummy.
4. Think Positive Thoughts
Success on the Dr. Oz diet depends on your positive lifestyle and emotional changes. Healthy food and a moderate exercise program add benefits your physical and emotional health. Do not be overwhelmed by the larger end goal. Be motivated with positive thinking and small, achievable goals. Share with your diet buddy the small positive changes you notice day to day. Lean on each other to keep moving forward with the new lifestyle you are adopting to lose weight a step at a time.
