Multiple sclerosis typically appears from the ages of 20 to 40. Women experience multiple sclerosis more than men. This disease involves malfunction of the central nervous system. The communication system between the brain and various areas of the body malfunctions due to problems with the myelin around the nerves. The nerve damage is often irreversible, reports the Mayo Clinic. The cause of multiple sclerosis is not yet known. A cure for multiple sclerosis does not yet exist.

Vision Problems

Vision abnormalities are often early symptoms of multiple sclerosis. The problems may include blurry vision, double vision, fast eye movements that cannot be controlled, problems with red-green color changes, and blindness on one side, reports the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke. Pain with eye movements (optic neuritis) is another warning sign of multiple sclerosis.

Weakness and Numbness in Limb

Muscle weakness and a numb feeling in a limb (or both) is another warning symptom of multiple sclerosis. This lack of strength in the limb extremities often occurs with coordination problems and an ongoing lack of balance. The onset of multiple sclerosis often makes it difficult to have the strength to stand upright and walk.

Tremors and Dizziness

Tremors, spasms, or a dizzy feeling that have never been experienced before are often also a warning sign of the start of multiple sclerosis. Treatments can often help alleviate some of the problematic physical movements of the body that arise with multiple sclerosis.

Fatigue

Fatigue in unusual levels also sometimes indicates the arrival of multiple sclerosis. It typically worsens as the day continues, peaking at the end of the afternoon, reports MedlinePlus. Multiple sclerosis treatments will work to enable you to maintain your typical work and social activities.

Shock Sensation

An electric shock sensation that occurs with a movement of the head may be a first indication of the onset of multiple sclerosis. This symptom can be alarming, and thus is a cause of a medical evaluation that reveals multiple sclerosis.

Urinary Problems

Changes in urinary output patterns may indicate that multiple sclerosis is starting. This disease can cause a frequent and urgent need to urinate, and also incontinence and problems starting the flow of urine.

Slurred Speech

Slurred speech is also often an early sign of multiple sclerosis. Having trouble communicating may indicate that this disease is causing neurological problems.
