When it comes to the stomach, there are many programs, diets and gadgets that claim to give you ripped abs fast. However, getting rid of troublesome belly fat and attaining the flat stomach you desire takes time and dedication to eating healthy and exercising daily. While there are no short cuts, there are a few diet tips that will help you jump-start your way to flatter abs quickly and keep you motivated along the way.

Avoid Processed and Refined Foods

One of the fastest ways to a flat belly is to cut out water weight and belly bloat by eliminating processed and refined foods from your diet. Processed and refined foods are higher in calories, fat, sugar and chemicals that cause water weight gain. Excess fat and sugar in the diet is a crucial factor in digestive problems, which cause belly bloat. Cutting out processed foods will help you flatten your stomach and slow down the aging process, according to the April 26, 2010 Eurek Alert. The report states that Harvard scientists have now linked phosphorus found in sodas and processed foods to accelerated signs of aging.

Cut Out Gas-Forming Foods

There are many foods that are high in vitamins and nutrients that are not great to eat if you want a flat belly fast. Beans, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, and cabbage are some of the foods that should be avoided if you want to flatten your stomach quickly. According to Liz Vaccariello, author of the "Flat Belly Diet," cutting these foods out for one to two weeks can help jump-start your flat belly program. To help keep bloat off, choose foods that are high in probiotics, like yogurt, which support the digestive system process and eliminate waste faster.

Drink Only Water

Switching water for sodas, juices and other drinks helps save you hundreds of calories a day and helps cut down on water weight gain that causes belly pooch. The body is made up of about 60 percent water, and flushes out toxins, carries nutrients to cells and helps keeps the body balanced chemically. When you do not drink enough water, the body will store excess water causing water weight gain which gives your belly a puffy look. The Mayo Clinic recommends drinking 13 cups of water a day for men and 9 cups of water a day for women to keep the body properly hydrated.
