People with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) experience issues with disabling inattention, hyperactivity and impulsiveness. The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) recommends treatment with medication and behavioral therapy for adults and school-age children with severe symptoms of ADHD. People with less severe symptoms, as well as preschoolers, may be treated with homeopathic remedies. Homeopathy uses minute doses of natural products to treat illness. Homeopathic remedies for ADHD are highly individualized. Consult with a homeopathic physician and your health care provider before starting any ADHD homeopathic treatment plan.

Stramonium

A study published in the "British Homeopathic Journal" found Stramonium to be the most commonly indicated homeopathic medicine for ADHD. According to wildflower.org, Stramonium is a narcotic in the nightshade family. This homeopathic remedy is indicated for people who are afraid, hyperactive, and violent, according to the Healing Center On-line. Stramonium is available in health food stores in doses of LM-1 to LM -30.

Lycopodium

Dr. H. Frei reported in October 2001 in "The British Homeopathic Journal" that Lycopodium was the homeopathic treatment most commonly used in his study to improve symptoms of ADHD. Lycopodium is an evergreen pine. According to the University of Maryland School of Medicine, it is indicated for individuals with performance anxiety and for those who are lacking in self-esteem. It is available in health food stores in doses ranging from LM-1 to LM-42.

Cina

According to herb2000.com, Cina is a strong-smelling plant that has been used by Native Americans to kill intestinal worms and to relax muscles. Cina is indicated for irritability and for physical and behavioral aggression, according to the University Of Maryland School of Medicine. Cina is available in health food stores in doses of LM-1 to LM-42.

Hyoscyamus is a remedy that successfully treated 19 percent of children with ADHD in one study. According to the University of Maryland, Hyoscyamus is indicated for individuals with impulsive behavior who are overly talkative and act unusually excited. It is available in health food stores in strengths of LM-1 through LM-40. The best starting dose is reported to be LM-3. The dose is increased over several months to LM-30 until ADHD symptom control is achieved.

Calcium Carbonate

According to the National Library of Medicine, calcium carbonate is necessary for healthy brain cell function. In the July 2006 "Homeopathy" it is reported that 14 percent of ADHD children treated with calcium carbonate improved. Calcium carbonate is most often used for people who are stubborn, pessimistic, and scared of heights or other physical risks. It is taken in doses starting at 3 LM-3 and progressing to LM-42.
