The Bowflex home gym is an exercise machine that involves a system of cables, pulleys and resistance rods. The basic model supports up to 210 pounds of resistance and enables the user to perform more than 30 exercises. With its compact dimensions, the device is well-suited for use in areas with a limited amount of space. Assembling a Bowflex is a fairly straightforward process, although you may find it useful to recruit a friend to help with handling some of the heavier components.
Step 1
Place the four end caps over the ends of the base stand. Seat the connector on the bottom of the lower lat tower over the two screw holes set into the base stand. Insert two sets of bolts and washers into the screw holes and tighten. Locate the screw holes on the rear of the base stand, then use two sets of bolts, nuts and washers to finish securing the lower lat tower to the base.
Step 2
Insert the seat rail into the seat slider, with the threaded hole on the end of the rail facing upward. Use four sets of bolts, nuts and washers to secure the seat to the seat slider. Affix the rubber pad to the end of the rail opposite the flat connector plate. Align the holes on the seat rail's connector plate to the holes on the leg extension assembly. Use two sets of bolts, nuts and washers to secure the assembly to the seat rail.
Step 3
Insert the remaining end of the seat rail into the mount affixed to the front of the lower lat tower. Insert a bolt through the uppermost hole on the side of the mount, then pass the bolt through the hole in the seat rail and use a nut and washer to secure the bolt in place. Insert the seat rail securing knob into the hole on top of the mount and tighten it to secure the rail in place.
Step 4
Insert the lat tower cross bar into the mount at the top of the upper lat tower and use two sets of bolts, nuts and washers to secure the bar in place. Insert the bottom end of the upper lat tower into the top end of the lower lat tower and use six sets of bolts and washers to fasten both sections together.
Step 5
Place the bundle of resistance rods onto the plate protruding from the rear of the lower lat tower. Insert three sets of threaded screws and washers into the slot on the underside of the plate. Tighten the screws to attach the rod bundle to the plate. Slide the rod bundle end plate over the end of the bundle, then use two sets of Phillips head bolts and washers to secure the end plate.
Step 6
Align the screw holes on the chest bar assembly with those on the lower lat tower and use two sets of bolts, nuts and washers to secure the assembly in place. Thread two metal rods through the holes on the top of the leg stand and the leg assembly arm. Slide the cushions over both ends of the rods, then insert the caps into the open ends of the cushions.
Step 7
Lower the hinged end of the bench onto the holder affixed to the seat. Clip the placard onto the upper lat tower. Affix the cable clip to the rear of the lower lat tower. Feed the cables through the appropriate pulleys for your desired exercise. Connect one end of each cable to a resistance rod, then connect the remaining end to a hand grip accessory.
