The amount of time that it takes to remove all hair depends on area size and growth density. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the average cost to remove facial hair in the United States hovers between $600 and $900. The price and the side effects associated with permanent removal such as scarring, pain, possibility of infection and redness move many to seek other solutions.
Waxing And Sugaring
Waxing and sugaring involve smoothing heated substances onto the skin. Unwanted facial hair is surrounded by the substances and pulled free once the substances cool. Waxing and sugaring removes hair from large areas and contours or shapes the brows and hairline. These two forms of temporary hair removal last the longest. You can expect to remain hair-free for up to two weeks.
Depilatory Creams
Applied to the surface of the skin, depilatory creams break down and melt away hair growing on the face. After treatment, skin stays smooth for a few days to one week depending on the natural growth tendencies of the hair. Chemical depilatories are not recommended for those with sensitive skin. Many women have already sworn off shaving their face out of fear that the hair will grow back thicker. While hair appears coarse and feels prickly after a shave, it does not grow back thicker. You only have so many hair follicles, and running the razor blade over top of them does not activate hair growth. So, if you are in a pinch for time, you can shave just that once.
