TrimSpa Facts

TrimSpa is a diet supplement sold through nutritional supply retailers and marketed as a weight loss drug. The manufacturer claims that along with diet and exercise, you can reach your goal weight by taking TrimSpa. None of the claims made by TrimSpa have been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration for validity.

Types

Previous products sold under the TrimSpa name include Weight Loss Chocolate Hoodia Supplement, TrimSpa Energy, TrimSpa Ultra, Metabospa and Froodia. As of June 2010, the only product available through the company is the TrimSpa Advanced X32 Rapid Release. Ingredients found in TrimSpa Advanced X32 Rapid Release include glucomannan, Hoodia gordonii, green tea extract, cocoa extract, chromium and caffeine.

Benefits

According to the TrimSpa website, the company conducted an eight-week clinical study that found that participants lost an average of 3.36 pounds through diet and exercise alone. Through diet, exercise and the use of TrimSpa Advanced X32 Rapid Release over the course of the study, an average of 6.61 pounds were lost.

Dosage

You are advised by the manufacturer to take four capsules of TrimSpa daily. Two are consumed in the morning, one in the afternoon and one in the evening. You must drink plenty of water, at least six to eight glasses, while using the diet supplement.

News

The TrimSpa supplement suffered a public relations blow in 2007 when their spokeswoman Anna Nicole Smith died of a drug overdose. Smith claimed that the diet supplement helped her lose the 60 to 70 pounds that she shed in 2003. Also, in 2007, the company along with other supplement manufacturers was fined $25 million by the Federal Trade Commission for making false claims about their products.

Warning

Stop the product immediately if you have any adverse side effects. Side effects associated with TrimSpa include headache, stomach upset, nausea, vomiting and dizziness. Individuals with caffeine sensitivity, diabetes and other medical conditions should not take TrimSpa unless advised by a doctor.
