Splenda is a brand of artificial sweetener that uses sucralose instead of sugar. Sucralose is much sweeter than sugar but has no calories, although other ingredients in Splenda do contain calories. Splenda Brown Sugar Blend is a product under the Splenda brand name that has a taste and texture similar to that of regular brown sugar.
Ingredients
Splenda products such as Splenda brown sugar have relatively little sucralose. They primarily contain dextrose or maltodextrin, simple sugars that are the primary source of calories in Splenda products. Splenda doesn't contain a significant amount of any vitamin or mineral. The main advantage of Splenda brown sugar is that it's much sweeter than regular brown sugar, which allows you to use less of it to achieve the same sweetening effect. You can generally substitute brown sugar in a recipe with half that amount of Splenda brown sugar.
Sucralose
Sucralose is chemically a simple sugar. Humans don't metabolize it readily, so it provides very few calories. Sucralose is safe to consume in large amounts, even when it's the only sweetening agent in your diet.
