Sexual Questions Part II

1. What is an erection?
An erection is a hardening of the penis that occurs when tubes in the penile tissues fill up with blood. Usually, an erection causes the penis to enlarge and stand away from the body. Erections go away on their own or after orgasm and ejaculation (although prolonged erections may cause something known as "blue balls"). Erections usually begin when a male reaches puberty.

2. Is It normal to get erections during the day?
Yes, erections are a perfectly normal function of the male body, especially in guys who are going through puberty. Many erections are caused by sexual arousal, but if you've gotten an erection during a weird or embarrassing situation there's no reason to worry that something is wrong with you. Your body is just acting naturally. In fact, you can also get erections at night while you sleep. These are called "wet dreams" and they are perfectly normal.

3. Can masturbating hurt?
No, not really. You might get sore if you are masturbating a lot. If you feel sore from masturbating too much, or if masturbating gets in the way of your social life, than that is too much for you. Try a water-soluble lubricant also.

4. Is birth control only available from a doctor?
You don't have to go to a doctor to get condoms, sexual lubricants or dental dams. Condoms are sold in most drug stores chains, in some super markets and via the Internet.

Birth contol pills are only available from a doctor, although they should be used with a diaphragm to protect yourself from STDs. If you don't want to use birth control pills, you may also try Depo-Provera or Ortho Evra. You will have to see a health care provider or a clinic for these prescriptions. 5. Can a female get pregnant from giving oral sex to a male?
No.

6. Does sex hurt the first time? Will there be blood?
Sex shouldn't hurt, whether it's your first time or your hundredth time. Most women do not bleed the first time they have sexual intercourse. If there is bleeding, it's usually due to a broken or torn hymen. The hymen is a membrane that partially covers the opening of a woman's vagina. Most girls break their hymens during childhood from activities like bike riding or horseback riding, or from using tampons for their menstrual cycle, often without knowing.

If sex hurts, it's usually because a woman hasn't been sexually aroused through foreplay. That means her vagina isn't lubricated enough before penetration.

Sex does hurt a woman the first time! Not once you are fully penetrated, but the initial penetration of the first time can be very painful no matter how aroused you are!

That is incorrect; please reread the article above. Do not assume your personal experiences are the same as every other woman's.

I experienced no pain or discomfort my first time. I was very aroused and very well lubricated. When a woman is in the mood and well lubricated, she should not experience pain during sex, even during the initial penetration. If you experience pain during the initial penetration, you're probably not lubricated and aroused enough when sex begins. You can try a water-based lubricant or more foreplay. If you continue to have pain or discomfort during sex, let your doctor know.

It hurt me the first few times I had sex. The whole time. We had enough lubrication, and I was very aroused. It was the same way for most of the women I know.

To Sanssouci: browls0 said it CAN be very painful, she didn't say it always is. She was correct. If a womans hymen hasn't been broken the first time she has sex, it can hurt her, too. It's the stretching of the vagina that hurts the first few times during sex for some. She wasn't wrong, you are.

2394872h, no browls said "Sex does hurt a woman the first time!" She did not use the word "can." Please read carefully.

Pain during sex is usually a result of being too dry or being tense. If you feel pain even when using a lubricant, when in the mood, and when relaxed make sure you talk to an ob-gyn about it.

If a penis went in your vagina, then yes, you had sex. If you're not sure how far your partner was able to go in, talk to him about it. It can be really difficult for a guy to get in if you're tense or dry. You can also visit an ob-gyn to make sure everything looks ok.

Sometimes bleeding is caused by a torn hymen. But it's more common for bleeding to be the result of delicate vaginal tissue tearing during sex when a woman is too dry.

Don't be scared. A lot of women don't realize that their fear and all the myths about sex actually make it worse.

Some girls experience pain and bleeding due to a torn hymen or medical issues. But most girls could actually have a pain-free and blood-free first time if they just knew more about their body. So remember that before having sex you should be relaxed, in the mood, and lubricated. Make sure you see an ob-gyn to get birth control and a pap too.
