Jubril Agoro Shares His Story: Helping Others Live Strong

Jubril Agoro is doing his best to help others live strong in his Chicago community.
When Jubril was 12 years old, a friend of the family took him to a Bulls basketball game. Jubril recounts that experience as one of the best times of his life, and he wanted to share that experience with underprivileged children in his neighborhood.
At 17, he bought tickets to the game -- all proceeds went to The Support Group -- and took a group of kids from his church to a Chicago Bulls game. The kids had the chance to meet recording artists Brandy and Mario, and ride to the game in the limo.

After having experience the joy of helping others, Jubril is dedicating his life to creating a foundation to help struggling mother's get their first car. Here is his story:
Growing up, I had to believe no matter what financial circumstances my family was in, I could be anything that I wanted to be. I often looked to people who have achieved success. I read books on how to save money, listened to music about people coming from poor neighborhoods and made something of themselves. Then I discovered Lance Armstrong, and his story has been a true inspiration for me.
His determination to fight cancer, and win the Tour de France seven times has shown me that you have to attack a problem mentally first and then in the physical form. I applied the lessons I learned from Lance to my own goals of someday, being able to financially solvent enough to help others in need.
I wanted to build a financial wall around my family so that I could provide them with the security we didn't have when I was younger. It was important to me that I be able to support them, and put myself in a position where I could then help others. My ultimate goal is to start a foundation for single mother's in the suburbs to help them get a car if they can't afford one. The reason starting my own foundation is important is because I know just helping one family at time with little push like car can mean the world. I remember my mother was about 33 when she had her first car, and I know how hard it was when my mother didn't have car. We live in a suburb outside the city of Chicago, which made getting into the city during the winter really difficult. I want to be able to drop a blessing on people who don't expect it. Just so they can get to the places they need to go for work, or to pick up their children.
To people who are having difficulties in their own lives, I want to say that the answers to life are not always in a book, you have to take consistent action. When everything seems to be going wrong retrace the steps that taken to get there so you don't repeat them. There is a quote that Jim Rohn that helps me out every day, "Discipline weighs ounces, and regret weighs tons." You can apply it to anything in life; eating healthy daily takes a small amount of discipline versus over eating and having to deal with the consequences of poor health when you get older. Imagine living with the regret of 'What if I would have changed, what if I could have prevented these poor health conditions."
I plan to use LIVESTRONG.COM to share my story, develop a support system for myself and get advice from other people. Hopefully in the end, I can use what I have learned to help others.

Jubril works with The Support Group, which focuses on creating an overall balance that will ensure the best opportunity for young men and women to understand the importance of excelling academically and athletically with an emphasis on education, test-taking skills, athletic conditioning, strengthening and character building.
