Nordic Track Instructions

NordicTrack produces a line of treadmill machines designed for use in the home. Different models vary in their feature sets, but the general functionality of the devices remains consistent from one to the next. Before you can use your NordicTrack in a workout, you must first confirm that the device is set up properly and configured for your body type and the desired intensity level. The NordicTrack's console is user friendly; the configuration process is straightforward.

Step 1

Connect one end of the device's power cord to the power port, located at the base of the treadmill under the console. Plug the remaining end of the cord into a surge suppressor, then connect the suppressor to a grounded 120-volt electrical outlet. Flip the power switch to the "On" position.

Step 2

Stand on the treadmill. Clip the device's key chain to your waistband. Insert the key into the hole located below the bottom edge of the console. Take several steps backward to confirm that the key chain is attached properly to your clothes; the treadmill's key should come free of the console when you move far enough away. Reinsert the key into the console.

Step 3

Press the button labeled "Enter Age/Wt," located on the right side of the console. Use the nearby "+" and "-" buttons to input your weight into the console, then press the "Enter Age/Wt" button again to confirm your selection.

Step 4

Press the button labeled "Start." Hold onto the handrails. Begin walking when the treadmill starts to move. Adjust the speed of the treadmill by pressing the "+" and "-" buttons in the section of the console labeled "Quick Speed."

Step 5

Adjust the treadmill's incline by pressing one of the "+" or "-" buttons labeled "Incline." Each press of the button will increase or decrease the incline by an increment of 0.5 percent.

Step 6

Note the output on the main display, located above the quick speed buttons. This information will help you determine whether you are reaching your exercise goals. Use the matrix display, set above the main display, to gauge your progress along a simulated quarter-mile track.

Step 7

Stand on the foot rails set next to the treadmill, then locate and press the button labeled "Stop." Remove the key from the device. Remove the key chain from your waistband. Flip the treadmill's power switch to the "Off" position. Disconnect the power cord from the device and electrical outlet.
