Spas use body wraps to allow ingredients and botanicals to penetrate deeper into the skin. The body is usually dry-brushed or exfoliated, ingredients are spread all over the body and then the body is wrapped, producing heat for better product penetration. There are many different types of body wraps. Slimming body wraps are for people looking to diminish excess water weight and/or cellulite.

Clay Wraps

Clay preparations are usually made with green clay, red clay, sea clay or bentonite clay. Green clay is used for oily skin types, red is used for dry skin types. Bentonite clay is the most common clay used in facial preparations. Sea clay's primary use is to draw oils from the skin, which tighten and tone the skin's appearance. The clay is mixed with other ingredients such as essential oils and spring water. The clay helps to balance the skin's moisture level and remove toxins from the underlying fat cells. Clay wraps also improve circulation, which can help diminish the appearance of cellulite and increase metabolism.

Aloe Vera Wraps

Aloe vera has been used for centuries for skin hydration and protection. Aloe is used in slimming body wraps because it is very hydrating and detoxifying to the skin cells. Aloe helps remove toxins and impurities from the fat cells by increasing circulation, therefore increasing metabolism. Aloe provides the skin with ample hydration, which helps to plump and firm the skin. According to the consumer guide to plastic surgery, toxins can eventually re-accumulate, so receiving body wraps regularly would provide better long-term benefits.

Sea Salt/Sea Weed Wraps

Sea salt and seaweed can help temporarily remove water and waste from the fat cells through their unique absorption capabilities. Sea salt works by exfoliating the outer layer of the skin, thereby allowing the salt and other natural ingredients to penetrate deeper into the skin. Sea salt and seaweed have natural mineral compounds, which enhance the absorption, firming and tightening affects in the skin.
