In the quest to get a toned, taut stomach you may have purchased countless contraptions, vibrating belts, exercise DVDs, books. But what these clever marketing campaigns never told you is "spot" reducing doesn't work. Eating a low-fat diet and following a well-structure workout program that combines strength and toning exercises with aerobic activity is the key to burning any fat below the surface.

Weight Lifting

Include a total body weight workout in your fitness plan in order to burn belly fat fast. Balancing upper and lower body is key for strength, bone mass and joint stability, as well as tone and shape. Use compound movements that work multiple muscle groups, and choose a high enough weight so you are tired after the last few of each set. According to Jillian Michaels, author of "Making the Cut", combo-lifting techniques will elevate your heart rate, increasing the amount of calories burned during your workout, thanks to the strain and fatigue of performing two exercises at once.

Aerobics

Integrate aerobic exercise, such as tennis or running, into your workout to burn more calories and reduce belly fat fast. You can do a long-duration aerobic activity such as running for 45 to 60 minutes one day a week, or you can intensify the workout by cycling at a high speed for 15 to 20 minutes one day per week, saving time. To burn fat, you should perform 60 minutes of aerobic exercise most days of the week.

Kickboxing

Burn extra calories and reduce belly fat by joining a kickboxing class. Kickboxing blends martial arts and aerobics into an intense total-body workout, strengthening the body, increasing endurance and increasing cardiovascular power. The repetitions of kicking and punching work several muscle groups as well as provide a powerful cardiovascular workout, burning calories and stomach fat throughout the class. According to the American Council on Exercise, you can burn 350 to 450 calories during a 50-minute class.

Interval Training

Interval training involves alternating short bursts of activity with intense bursts of activity. This type of training uses the aerobic and anaerobic energy systems of the body. It uses oxygen to convert carbohydrates into energy, drawing energy from carbohydrates that are stored in the muscles. For example, try walking 2 miles per day in 30 minutes, increasing your speed every few minutes to boost the intensity, then returning to the original speed. According to "Women's Magazine", working at vigorous intensities helps your body burn more calories both during and after the workout, helping your burn fat fast.

Kettleballs

Kettleballs are cannonball-shaped iron orbs with handles you hold onto and lift in a swinging motion in order to build strength and burn calories fast. According to the American Council for exercise, this workout burns an astonishing 272 calories in 20 minutes, not counting additional calories burned from anaerobic effort. Researchers at the University of Wisconsin who studied the effects of kettleballs say this high-level of calorie burning is due to the total-body workout and the fact that it incorporates intense levels of interval training. All combined, this workout will help you burn belly fat in half the time of traditional workouts.
