Hand coordination is the ability for your hands and fingers to work in unison. The people who are most likely to focus on exercises designed to strengthen and coordinate hand movements are athletes and musicians. These exercises can also be used to help improve everyday living activities, such as cooking or carrying the groceries to the car.
Piano exercise
Place both hands palms-down on your legs. Then tap each finger separately from your pinky to your thumb, as if you were impatiently waiting for something. You can do one hand at a time or both together. You can also switch the direction in which you tap your fingers or which finger starts the tapping motion.
Tap and Sweep
Tap your right hand on the right side of your chest, while your left hand sweeps up and down on your left side. Try to go back and forth, switching the tapping and sweeping motions as fast as you can.
Hand Dance
Place both hands together palm-to-palm. Starting with your pointer fingers, follow this simple progression. Bend the pointer fingers by slightly separating the hands and bending the fingers in front of each other. Fold the pointer fingers on either side of each other as your palms are face to face. Tap the pointer fingers together twice. Push the pointer fingers forward and backward. Then move to the next finger and repeat th sequence from the beginning. Try to perform the motion as quickly as possible. The exercise can be performed to music to help keep a quick rhythm.
Wall Ball
Find a clear wall and throw a hand or tennis ball against it with your dominant hand. Catch the ball with your non-dominant hand, and switch back and forth between throwing and catching with your dominate and non-dominant hand.
