Losing weight within a week's time is best for fitting into that swimsuit or your favorite pair of jeans. There are several methods for losing weight fast, but it is not recommended to use diet pills or related diet fads for fast weight loss. These methods can be harmful to your health and thus are best avoided. Instead, use healthy methods of weight loss in order to trim the fat.
Strict Diet
Follow a strict diet for the entire week, or better yet, forever. The USDA recommends a healthy diet consisting of vegetables, fruits, low-fat dairy, lean meats and whole grains. For quickest weight loss results, eliminate white breads/pastas, candy, soda and other high-calorie foods and drinks. These foods/drinks are the primary causes of weight gain, so avoiding them can force your body to burn its existing fat rather than creating more of it. By cutting 1,000 calories per day from your diet, which is not that far-fetched in most cases, you can burn about two pounds of fat from your body within a week.
High Intensity Interval Training
HIIT, or high intensity interval training, is a method of exercising at a very high intensity in an effort to boost your metabolism, burn calories and do so fast. HIIT consists of a "rest" and "work" cycle. For example, you would jog for one minute, and then immediately sprint at about 90% of your maximum speed for one minute. Repeat this rest-and-work pattern for five or six cycles. The advantage of this type of training is that it only takes about 30 minutes---including stretching, warm-up and cool-down---three days per week. The disadvantage of this type of training is that it is best used by more physically fit individuals, so HIIT may be too intense for some.
Aerobic Exercise
For those who cannot do HIIT for whatever reason, aerobic exercise offers an effective alternative. The CDC recommends 30 to 60 minutes per day of moderate exercise for adults. In order to lose weight within a week, exercise at the higher end of this scale for maximum weight loss. For example, walking briskly for 60 minutes per day for an entire week can burn 500 calories or more---that's equivalent to a ½ lb. of fat loss. To ramp up the weight loss even further, jog for 60 minutes per day and your calorie burn will be much higher.
Sauna
While saunas do not actually burn fat from your body, they do cause you to sweat. Sweating releases water from your body causing your weight to drop. Using saunas to make weight is a common practice by boxers, MMA fighters and wrestlers. This technique should be a "last resort" weight loss tool, and it should be used with caution. Over-exposure to the dry, hot heat of a sauna can lead to dehydration and heat stroke. Do not spend more than 20 minutes in a sauna at one time, and drink plenty of water before and after.
