Since the 2008 release of the Wii Fit in the U.S., the Wii Balance Board has spawned several exercise-based games across multiple genres. Critics predicted that people wouldn't want to burn calories while playing video games. The Balance Board has done not only that but also has brought families together for a fun time in a new and healthy way.
Wii Fit Plus
Wii Fit Plus is a sequel to the wildly successful Wii Fit game, and is designed to help you exercise at home with your own on-screen personal trainer. Players use the balance board for every movement included in the game. Exercises include maintaining your center of gravity for yoga, push-ups and sit-ups using correct form. The 20 new mini games are designed to help burn calories, from dancing in a rhythm parade, to juggling, to avoiding gigantic swinging balls. A calorie tracker counts every calorie you've eaten and burned for as long as you like.
Walk It Out
This game's entire premise is to walk around multiple virtual worlds. With vivid colors and scenery, each world gets more beautiful as you explore it. Players walk in place on the balance board. A controller and nunchuck are often used in combination with the board. A variety of bonus games pop up as you walk through every world. These mini-games are designed to help break up any monotony. A calorie counter displays how many calories you have burned and how far you have walked.
NewU Fitness First: Yoga & Pilates Workout
The sequel to the popular "Personal Trainer" game, this version concentrates on yoga poses and Pilates workouts. An on-screen trainer helps with form and breathing. Nearly all of the movements and poses are done while standing, sitting, or leaning on the balance board, often with a controller in hand. The game has 117 different exercises are available to select from, and any one of three personal trainers can be chosen to help you along the way. Fully customizable goals and training on every exercise help you get fit at a pace you're comfortable with.
