The first step in anxiety relief is acknowledging that your anxiety is negatively impacting your daily life. Once you have acknowledged this, you have to choose to take the steps necessary to decrease your anxiety. Anxiety manifests itself in people through constant worry and tension. People expect the worst without justification. By following some simple tips, people with anxiety can reduce their symptoms.

Continue Treatment

If you see a mental health professional for therapy, make a serious effort to attend each session even if you are feeling overwhelmed. It is in times of intense anxiety when treatment can be most valuable. If you're prescribed anxiety medications, continue to take them even when you feel better; without them your symptoms may return. If you do want to reduce your dosage, talk with your doctor and therapist first.

Make Time For You

Make a list of things you enjoy doing, such as reading a book or getting a massage. Then create time in your life to regularly include these activities. Deal with anxiety in the moment by learning meditation and deep breathing exercises.

Let Go Of Control

Understand that everything is not within your control. There are some things you can improve upon or make changes to, but under many circumstances anxiety is increased by things we cannot change. If you cannot change it, accept that, and let it go.

Learn Your Triggers

Take time to understand situations or circumstances that trigger your anxiety. When you find patterns of your anxiety, address them. If you go to therapy you can bring these patterns up with your therapist. If the triggers are something you can remove from your life without much loss, do so.

Take Care Of Your Body

Exercise is a great way to manage anxiety and find relief. According to the Anxiety Disorders Association of America, the biggest benefits from exercise come from at least two and a half hours of moderate exercise or one and a quarter hours of vigorous exercise each week. Helpguide reports that aerobic exercise causes a release in stress-relieving hormones, thus inducing a reduction in anxiety.

Enjoy Humor

According to Helpguide laughter can dissolve feelings of anxiety. Learn to incorporate humor and laughter into your life on a daily basis; they can trigger positive emotions that remain with you long after the laughter has subsided.

Learn To Say No

Do not take on every responsibility that presents itself. When others ask you to do something don't say "yes" because you can't say "no;" only say yes if you really want to. Anxiety can develop because you are overwhelmed by all of the things you have agreed to do; next time don't agree to do so much.

Socialize

Interaction with others and socialization can help you put worries into perspective, as suggested by the Mayo Clinic. Don't isolate yourself. Enjoy the company of your loved ones; stay connected.
