Losing weight is one of the biggest obstacles for individuals who struggle with weight loss issues. These problems can be compounded by having a low metabolism or a lifestyle that isn't very active and doesn't burn many calories throughout the day. There are several things you can do to get results for yourself, but in order for these to be guaranteed, you must also keep other weight factors in check and avoid overcompensating in one area because of your extra effort in another.
Reduced-Calorie Diet
One of the most obvious and easiest ways to lose weight is to reduce your daily intake of calories. The math is fairly simple: if you are taking in more calories than your body burns in a day, you will gradually gain weight over time. However, if you consume fewer calories than your body needs, this can facilitate weight loss. You don't want to be so extreme that you risk the development of an eating disorder, but identifying approximately how many calories you burn in a day and aiming to consume several hundred calories less than that amount can result in weight loss. Ways you can do this in your diet is by eating more fruits and vegetables, consuming lean meats like fish, chicken and turkey instead of beef, eating whole grain foods that provide more nutrients to your body and require more energy to digest, and consuming low-fat or fat-free dairy.
Exercise
Exercising can burn several hundred calories an hour and promote healthy but gradual weight loss. However, exercise only works when you do not also increase your caloric intake. Doing this can counteract the benefits of exercise and result in no weight change. Ideally, you should aim for exercising three to five times a week for at least 30 minutes each time.
While exercising, your heart rate should be elevated for the duration of the workout. Examples of activities that can elevate the heart rate and lead to weight loss include running, walking, swimming and bicycling.
Plastic Surgery
Some doctors may advise against it, particularly if you are capable of losing the weight on your own through natural remedies, but there is no method known to eliminate fat as immediately and dramatically as plastic surgery. Liposuction removes fat from various locations on your body and reattaches the skin to itself to heal, while lap band surgery inserts an artificial band around your stomach to create a sense of fullness after consuming only small amounts of food. However, these surgeries come with various side effects, such as sagging skin and surgery scars, and should only be considered in extreme cases and after careful consideration and information by a health care professional.
