Illness, bereavement, moving, work problems or vitamin deficiencies are among the many causes of tiredness, according to Medical News Today. People who feel tired too often can often overcome their difficulties through simple changes to bring back some normalcy to their lives. Anyone suffering from chronic fatigue can also reap benefits from changes in daily activities, but should visit a doctor for any possible underlying problems.

Dietary Solutions

Concentrate on a healthy, well-balanced diet and drink plenty of water throughout the day, advises Medline Plus, a publication of the National Institutes of Health. People who practice good eating patterns often end up with good sleeping patterns to avoid excessive tiredness. Being overweight can lead to tiredness, so losing excess pounds may improve tired feelings, Medical News Today reports. Avoid crash dieting, which affects sleeping patterns. Do not drink alcohol or caffeine, which interferes with sleep, especially in the evenings. Caffeine may seem like a treatment for fatigue temporarily, but it makes the problem of tiredness worse in the long run, Medline Plus notes.

Lifestyle Changes

Stress and anxiety can cause tiredness, so concentrate on keeping a reasonable schedule for work and at home, Medline Plus points out. Stress management may be necessary. Sometimes simply taking a break during difficult times or going on a vacation reduces stress. Problems at home can be solved through therapy or counseling. Developing a regular sleep routine by going to bed and getting up at the same time each day avoids tiredness. Avoid eating too close to bedtime and try to relax by thinking of positive thoughts or listening to soothing music before sleep, Medical News Today recommends.

Exercise Routines

Exercising regularly provides better sleep at night, according to Medical News Today. People who are not used to physical activity can start out slowly with brisk walking or some bike riding. Exercising for 30 minutes a day most days of the week can improve sleeping patterns and prevent tiredness. Yoga and meditation are among relaxation strategies to help reduce tiredness, Medline Plus says.

Alternative Remedies

Acupuncture uses the insertion of needles at various points on the body to improve the flow of energy, which may help to treat tiredness, according to Today's Woman. Aromatherapy and massage may help raise energy levels to improve sleep and wakefulness. Taking multivitamins, herbal supplements or herbal teas may stimulate blood flow and metabolic rate to improve energy levels. Herbs that are helpful for chronic fatigue syndrome include echinacea, licorice, ginkgo biloba, Chinese, Korean or Siberian ginseng and valerian, according to Holisticonline.com.
