Apples are loaded with nutrients like potassium, pectin, malic acid and calcium. The fermentation process used to make cider vinegar from the apples fortifies the vitamins and minerals, making them even more powerful, according to the Global Healing Center. This makes apple cider vinegar a great component that can benefit many types of facial skin problems.

Clear Blemishes

Dr. Edward Group stated in his Global Healing Center article "The Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar" that it is often used as a natural treatment for acne. It helps to clear blemishes on the skin by balancing the skin's acidity and killing bacteria. When used as a toner, it absorbs the excess oil from skin that causes breakouts. Apply apple cider vinegar mixed with water onto your skin with a cotton ball. For severe acne, it should be left on overnight. The use of apple cider vinegar can give facial skin a smoother texture.

Fade Age Spots

Age spots---also called liver spots and sun spots---are benign discolorations on the skin that occur as we get older. They often show up on the face, especially in those over 40. According to Home Remedies Web, the sulfur in apple cider vinegar helps it treat these spots, causing them to fade gradually. The effect of apple cider vinegar on age spots appears to work best when you drink the beverage and apply it directly to the spots. Mixing the vinegar with onion juice can help speed the process.

Treat Sunburn & Itching

Sunburn is often painful and can be unattractive on the face. Gently patting the affected area with a cotton ball soaked in apple cider vinegar can help alleviate the sting and redness. A Reader's Digest article on "Extraordinary Uses for Vinegar" acknowledges that this same treatment is helpful for eliminating itching of insect bites and rashes, like those from poison ivy.
