Cystic acne is a severe form of acne characterized by cysts under the skin. The cysts are blocked oil glands that have opened, producing inflammation and pus. Treatment is important because the cysts can leave long-lasting scars. Cystic acne takes a long time to heal because the infection takes place under the skin, and the pus is unable to leave the body.

Homeopathy

Homeopathy is an alternative treatment modality based on the theory that "like cures like." Substances that cause the symptoms being treated are diluted until they are present only in minute amounts. This dilution is then used to treat symptoms. You can get homeopathic medicines without a prescription at health and natural food stores. There is usually a book attached to the homeopathy display that you can look in to find your symptoms and the appropriate remedy.
A trained homeopath can also assess your symptoms and make recommendations. Since it is the symptoms, not the condition, that indicate the correct treatment, the homeopath may ask you many questions which seem to have little to do with cystic acne.
Homeopathic remedies are made from herbs, metals, elements and other natural substances. The substance is diluted in water, often until none of the active ingredient is still present in the dilute solution. Homeopaths believe that the more diluted the solution, the stronger the remedy. Tablets or small pills, generally made of sugar, are then soaked with the dilute solution. You hold the pills or tablets under your tongue to allow them to be absorbed slowly.

Hepar Sulphur

Hepar sulfur is a homeopathic remedy used to treat painful, pus-filled acne. It is indicated for slow-to-heal acne, skin that is easily infected and eruptions with foul-smelling pus. Hepar sulfur is made by burning the inner surface of oyster shells with sulphur. This is then diluted and sugar pills are soaked in it.

Kali Bromatum

Kali bromatum is is a dilute solution of potash salts that is used for deep acne, particularly on forehead. Nervousness and chills in addition to acne indicate that this is the appropriate remedy.

Graphites

Graphites, a dilute solution of carbon, is indicated for acne with cysts on the face or cheeks. Cold sores, eczema, psoriasis and pus-filled cuts are other uses of graphites.

Silicea

If your acne forms scars or pits, silicea may be the correct remedy. If you have cysts or pus-filled pimples with your acne, silicea is indicated. Silicea is made by diluting the mineral silica.
