Los Angeles is not only a mecca for those who are focused on health and wellness, but it's a place to explore this lifestyle in fun and inventive ways. Not only is it an active city, but it is a city that brings many diverse cultures together. From cuisine to recreation, the City of Angels is a perfect vacation destination with many options for all types of people.
Local Food
You won't have to worry about finding a restaurant that caters to your own specific dietary needs. The fun is in discovering all that is available to you, and trying those types of cuisines you haven't tried before.
Be it sushi, organic or vegan, Los Angeles has it all. Hipper, more "artsy" locations like Beverly Hills or West Hollywood tend to attract the vegetarian set, while ocean cities like Malibu offer fresh seafood. Best of all, who knows what famous local might be seen while dining there?
You can also explore those areas of town that are devoted to different cultures, such as Chinatown and Little Tokyo. It's the best of all worlds in Los Angeles, without the hefty price of international travel.
Outdoor Activities
Since Los Angeles is the home of the Dodgers and the Lakers, it's no surprise LA is a sports city. There are great parks all over town which not only feature sports like volleyball, basketball and baseball, but many of these also have dog parks to get your pets in on the fun as well.
During the 1970s, Angelinos started the skateboarding and skating trends that swept the country. You can still join in the fun with contemporary skaters and skateboarders found today along trendy Venice Beach.
If golf is more your sport, there are golf courses located all over the city with beautiful backdrops, so whether it's the mountains or the ocean, you can enjoy a different scene every time you golf.
Water Sports
No visit to Los Angeles is complete without a trip to the beach, it's usually tops on the fun list for most families. As a city that sits on the Pacific, surfers still rule the sand and tide in L.A. There are also many marinas where you can rent equipment to sail, to surf, to jet ski and more. From merry-go-rounds and ferris wheels to live entertainment, cities like Santa Barbara, Venice and Long Beach have piers that always have something fun to see and do, .
Just a ferry ride away from Los Angeles is Catalina Island, which offers activities snorkeling, kayaking and ocean rafting.
Explore Nature
Being a big city with a spectacular and familiar skyline, many overlook the different natural alternatives available in the Los Angeles area. Fun can be found just by exploring the bountiful nature available all around the city. Just a few miles north of downtown lies Griffith Park, where you can hike through the hills all the way around to the famous Hollywood sign. You can also "go native" at the Sepulveda Basin Wildlife Reserve located in the San Fernando Valley city of Van Nuys.
Hop on over to Catalina and you can explore the island on horseback, and maybe even catch a glimpse of the buffalo that live there.
Uniquely LA
Perhaps Los Angeles is best known as being the Entertainment Capital of the world, and what could be more fun than that? There are many things you can only see in Los Angeles, and the best way to see them is on foot. Check out weird and wild Hollywood's Walk of Fame. Not only will your feet carry you from one end of town to the other, you'll run into some famous "characters" along the way. What could be more fun than running into Yoda while you see if your footprints match Steven Spielberg, Marilyn Monroe or Robert Downey, Jr.'s?
Window shop along Beverly Hill's Rodeo Drive for a glimpse into Los Angeles luxury, or take walking tours of the studios around town.
