This herb is native to Asia, Europe and some areas of North America.
Bleeding
White willow bark extract is often referred to as herbal aspirin. Since it contains salicin it can heighten your risk of bleeding just like aspirin can. In fact, salicin, once it has been ingested, is turned into aspirin, according to the Hospital for Special Surgery.
Stomach Ulcers
Using white willow bark extract for a prolonged period of time can irritate the gastrointestinal tract. This can result in stomach ulcers and upset stomach, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC). This side effect is more common, and often more severe, if you have a pre-existing sensitivity to aspirin.

It is possible to overdose on white willow bark extract if you consume too much. If an overdose occurs you can experience a skin rash, nausea and vomiting, ringing in the ears, stomach irritation or inflammation and kidney inflammation, according to UMMC.
