Stress develops out of internal or external factors. Internal stressors are self-induced, ideas or thoughts you have that create unrest and external stressors are those things that happened to you and may extend beyond your control, according to the Mayo Clinic. While there are many causes of stress at home, remember that people experience stress differently. Understanding your stress triggers will help you better deal with them.

Daily Hassles

The daily minor irritations you experience within your home can induce stress. Some of these daily hassles may include: waiting on family members, sharing a bathroom, preparing meals, misplacing items, running late, loud noises, dealing with neighbors, etc. Daily hassles are constant, unlike larger life events, and due to their consistency they tend to produce the small amounts of stress on a regular and recurring basis.

Relationships

Relationships you have with others can cause stress within your home. Both divorce and marriage are in the top 10 list of stressful life events, according to Help Guide. Navigating the relationship between two people on a daily basis makes it hard to avoid stress, but you can also experience stress from the lack of relationships within your home. Feelings of loneliness and not having a partner to talk to can produce internal stress. Also, domestic violence undoubtedly will cause your stress levels to increase.

Money

Money can be a huge internal and external source of stress. According to Help Guide, financial problems stress many people. Money dictates how you live and provide for yourselves and your family, and when you experience fears of financial problems your stress levels increase.

Children

Dealing with your children can cause you to experience stress. The Mayo Clinic reports that children and teenagers who refuse to cooperate can create external stressors. Also, having unrealistic expectations for your children can induce stress because you will constantly be battling with them to reach your expectations, according to the Mayo Clinic.

Unpredictable Events

These are the events that you are unable to see coming, such as, job loss, death of a relative, illness or injury, or unplanned pregnancy, according to Women's Health. When these things occur stress increases. These external stressors can also trigger internal stressors. When you lose a job, you might begin to think you are not good enough and you will never be able to get a job like your previous one again. Also, if you lose a relative unexpectedly you might begin to ruminate on your last conversation with them and whether it was positive. Therefore, these unpredictable events can contribute to stress within the home.
