There are many sneaky tricks you can pull on your body to slim down faster. In fact, you must trick your body eventually because it is programmed to hold on to as much body fat as possible. The more weight you lose, the harder it will be to lose weight. Your body is smart, but you can outsmart it if you know how to apply some very basic metabolic techniques.
Cleansing
Do a one- to three-day cleanse before you start your diet. No need for expensive products or supplements. For the duration of your cleanse eat and drink only fresh fruits, vegetables and their juices, along with unsalted nuts and seeds. This is a variation of fasting, according to "The Miracle of Fasting."
More Water
The simple act of drinking more water elevates your metabolism to speed up weight loss according to "Combat the Fat." Aim to drink eight, 16 oz. glasses of water every day by having one or two glasses with each meal, one glass upon waking and by sipping from a water bottle as needed all day long.
Protein Smoothies
Many think of protein supplements the wrong way. They help you burn fat faster and prevent snacking on junk, according to "The Fat Burning Bible." They can also be made to taste like dessert. To do this, blend 1 scoop of whey protein, ½ frozen banana, 1 tsp. psyllium husk, 1 tbsp. peanut butter, 8 oz. water and 2 ice cubes.
Stress-Free Cardio
By choosing cardio activities that you enjoy, you can burn calories without even noticing the time pass. You can play a recreational sport that you enjoy or go for a walk-and-talk with a friend to catch up. All you need is 30 minutes of activity three to five times per week.
Indulge
Indulge your cravings sometimes to bust your dieting plateaus. Over dieting actually causes your body to slow down your metabolism, which is the opposite of what you want. Eat anything you want at one meal, once per week. If you are just maintaining your desired weight, take a whole day off from dieting.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Drinking an apple cider vinegar drink three to five times per day can help to stabilize blood sugar, prevent hunger, cleanse your body and keep you hydrated, according to "The Miracle of Fasting." Mix 2 tbsp. apple cider vinegar, a packet of stevia or Splenda, 8 oz. distilled water, ice and lemon to taste.
Visualize Portions
"Combat the Fat" author Jeff Anderson recommends you visualize food portions rather than counting. To do this you eat a serving of protein about the size of your fist, enough carbohydrates to fill your cupped palm and a handful of nuts or seeds or a serving of oil the size of your thumb.
Doggy Bags
If you must eat at a restaurant where you cannot control your portions, have the server make a to-go doggy bag of half of your meal. You save money by making one meal into two and you give your body a better chance of burning the calories and avoiding body fat storage.
