A partner guilty of infidelity has a strong emotional or sexual attraction to someone outside of his relationship and hides or lies about the involvement, according to the Mayo Clinic. Look for signs to indicate that your significant other is cheating before you confront him with suspicions about an emotional or physical affair.
Phone Use
"Marie Claire" magazine suggests watching your man's cell phone habits if you suspect him of cheating. If he's getting phone calls or text messages from the other woman, your significant other may keep the phone turned off or on vibration mode so you won't be curious each time the device rings or chimes. He may also take calls in another room, hang up or change his tone abruptly when you enter the room. If you never see his phone, he may be leaving it in the car or carrying it around with him so you won't have the opportunity to answer it or check the previous text messages or call history.
Different Appearance
A man who's cheating may take a renewed interest in his appearance. Take notice if your significant other suddenly starts working out at a gym, wearing cologne or experimenting with new hairstyles without giving you a reason why. He may also wear new or dressier clothing, particularly when going to work or leaving the house to hang out with "friends" on the weekend.
Spending Habits
Follow a suggestion from the Health Guidance website, and monitor your significant other's spending habits for signs of cheating. If he's spending time with another woman, he may increase his cash withdrawals from the bank rather than using his credit card so you won't be able to see where he's spending his money. You may also notice mysterious restaurant, store or recreational activity charges on your card that he attributes to taking "friends" out for a good time or buying birthday gifts for co-workers.
Skittish Friends
Consider your mutual friends' behavior when evaluating the possibility of your significant other having an affair. "Marie Claire" magazine notes that friends who know about your man's extracurricular activities may avert their eyes when talking to you, sneak knowing glances at him while you're talking or change the subject when you ask about the last time they hung out with your man because they know he was actually with the other woman at the time.
Bedroom Behavior
Your significant other may exhibit different habits, attitudes or desire levels in the bedroom if he's cheating on you, according to "Redbook" magazine. He may avoid sex and seem to lose his drive completely if he wants to avoid intimacy with you or is having all of his "needs" met outside the relationship. Conversely, he may suddenly become more adventurous in the bedroom, revealing new "techniques" that he's learned with the other woman.
