Facial hair, or any body hair for that matter, can be either vellus or terminal. Vellus hairs are thin and light, while terminal hairs are thick and dark. For men, facial hair is mainly terminal and widespread. For women, terminal hair often pops up in small patches and causes self-consciousness.
Step 1
Wash your face and leave it wet to shave your hair. Apply shaving cream to your face and run a razor blade over your skin in short, smooth strokes. Go over all the areas where there is hair and wash the blade every few strokes to clean it off. Wash your face again and apply a moisturizer to keep your skin soft.
Step 2
Remove the hair with an epilator. Epilators are handheld tools that look like an electric shaver. They have tiny rotating tweezers inside that pull hairs out. Pull your skin tight near the area of hair and run the epilator over your skin in a steady motion to remove the hair.
Step 3
Pluck smaller areas of hair out with a pair of angled tweezers. Place your thumb and forefinger on your skin with the hair you want removed in the center. Pull the skin tight, grasp a hair close to the skin with the tweezers and pull straight out in a steady motion. Repeat with all areas of hair you want removed.
Step 4
Warm your facial hair with a heated washcloth and wipe it off with a depilatory cream. Apply a liberal amount of cream and let it sit far as long as directed by the company. Take a moist washcloth and wipe off the hair and cream with firm pressure. Wash your skin when finished and apply a moisturizer.
Step 5
Purchase a home waxing kit to remove your hair. Heat up the wax for as long as recommended and apply it to your hair in the direction of growth with the applicator stick. Let it set up until it gets tacky and flatten the cloth strip over it. Make sure there is a little bit of strip sticking up with no wax under it. Place the fingers of one hand on your skin above the strip, grab the part of the strip that's sticking up with your other fingers and pull down in a fast motion to remove the hair. Repeat wherever you want removal.
