How to Install a Hearing Aid Liner

Many people find hearing aids to be essential, but hearing aids can be annoying if they do not fit properly. Problems resulting from poorly fitting hearing aids include sounds of feedback or whistling, as well as irritation to the skin at the point of contact. To address those problems, Weber produces hearing aid liners that are an eighth of an inch thick. They come packaged in groups of five and are reusable, if properly cleaned.

Application

Step 1

Wash your hands with soap and water, then dry thoroughly.

Step 2

Remove the protective plastic from the sides of the hearing aid liner.

Step 3

Grip the liner between your thumb and fingers and then apply it to your hearing aid. Work the liner around until it covers the hearing aid.

Step 4

Use your fingers to mold the hearing aid liner to a shape approximate to that required to ensure a proper fit inside or behind your ear.

Step 5

Place your hearing aid inside or behind your ear, according to its design. Use your fingertips to make any desired adjustments to the shape of the liner.

Step 6

Test your hearing aid and listen for feedback, whistling or other undesirable noises. If necessary, remove and reshape the liner, then reinsert and make further adjustments.

Maintenance

Step 1

Remove your hearing aid and peel off the liner.

Step 2

Clean the liner by rinsing it under tap water. Dry the liner with a clean towel or tissue.

Step 3

Reapply the liner to your hearing aid and use your fingertips to mold it back to the desired shape.

Tips and Warnings

  • You can order Weber hearing aid liners through the manufacturer's website. For the liner to work as designed, you must mold it such that it covers the entire shell of your hearing aid.
