3 Ways to Treat Age Spots

1. Raid Your Refrigerator

Acidic juices from certain fruits, especially strawberries, papaya and lemon, can help fade age spots. To create a mask, simply mash the fruit, adding oatmeal or salt to make the mix. To apply, you can use a slice of the same fruit to pick up a small amount of the mix and then rub it over the skin for about 20 seconds. If you're on the go and cannot afford the time to clean up the mix from your skin, simply slice a lemon and rub directly on the spots. Repeat several times a day until the spot fades.

2. Stay in the Kitchen

If acidic fruit juices are not acting fast enough or the spots are too dark and taking too long to fade, consider taking things a step further. Vinegar is the ultimate edible acidic ingredient. Safe enough to drink, vinegar can be mixed with lemon or orange juice using a two to one ratio and applied directly over the skin to help fade difficult age spots.

3. Don't Forget the Garden

Many plants have been used for centuries to help fade age spots. Most require you to apply juices directly on the spots you want to treat. Aloe vera, dandelions and onions fall in this category. Other natural products, such as diluted vinegar or bilberry extract, can be added to teas and concoctions and consumed to clean out toxins and help the skin regenerate faster.

Certain supplements can also be taken to help your body fight the signs of aging. Beta carotene and bioflavonoids are especially useful because they help with skin repair and slow aging. Vitamin E can be taken internally to help with aging problems in general or you can try buying gel capsules and breaking them open to apply the oil directly over the age spots.
