Normal body function requires vitamins, and a lack of vitamins can lead to health concerns and an unattractive appearance. Out of the 13 vitamins essential to good health, seven influence beauty. You can take vitamins in pill form, but the best way to get your vitamins is through the foods you eat.
Vitamin A
This vitamin influences the creation of cells and is important for healthy skin, hair, teeth and gums. It makes the skin more resistant to bacteria that can lead to blemishes, and it protects the skin from premature aging and dryness. It also helps the skin remain smooth, and it strengthens the enamel on your teeth. Vitamin A prevents dry eyes as well, so if you are deficient in this vitamin and you wear contact lenses, you may experience eye dryness and inflammation that could lead to eye redness.
Vitamin B2
Vitamin B2 is also known as riboflavin. This vitamin is necessary for normal eyesight; a lack of this vitamin could make the whites of your eyes red. An inadequate amount of vitamin B2 can also result in abnormal tissue growth on the skin.
Vitamin B3
Vitamin B3, also known as niacin, is another skin vitamin. A lack of this vitamin could cause diseased gum tissue or an outbreak of dermatitis. Gum disease could result in tooth loss. Skin that is afflicted with dermatitis will look inflamed, thick and scaly.
Vitamin B6
Pyridoxine, which is vitamin B6, helps keep acne in check and contributes to healthy skin. A deficiency of this vitamin can cause hair to fall out and lesions to form. The skin around your mouth and eyes may crack if vitamin B6 is lacking from your diet.
Vitamin C
Vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid, assists in collagen formation and helps wounds heal. Without adequate vitamin C the skin may begin to sag, look old and feel rough. Receding gums, another sign of a vitamin C deficiency, can take away from an attractive smile.
Vitamin D
Vitamin D helps the body build strong bones, offering protection against osteoporosis and a vulnerability to bone fractures. Bones are the framework of the body, and weak bones can affect posture. Teeth may break when there is a lack of vitamin D in the body. Psoriasis could also become a problem.
Beauty Vitamin E
This beauty vitamin works to protect the skin from aging prematurely. It also assists in the restoration of damaged skin. Poor skin tone, poor skin texture and skin discoloration are signs of a vitamin E deficiency.
