Los Angeles is well-known for the always-pleasant weather provided by sunshine nearly every single day. Well, the city is also known for the experience it provides after the sun goes down. Los Angeles at night is a city where there's always something happening, where there's always something new going on that you can't find anywhere else.

Sports

Los Angeles has quality sports going on year-round. The best-loved of the LA franchises is the Los Angeles Lakers, which is one of the most dominant teams in NBA history. Also at the Staples Center are the plucky Clippers, whose history consists of decades of tragic draft moves. For baseball, LA has the Dodgers in the city and the Los Angeles Angels further out in Anaheim. Amazingly, an always-warm city like LA also has two hockey teams, with the Kings, and the Anaheim Mighty Ducks. If professional sports aren't for you, USC and UCLA perennially field some of the best teams in the NCAA.

Comedy

Los Angeles is one of the top comedy spots in the country, along with New York and Chicago. Here, you can find big, established name comics playing to small rooms on the weekend, and along with that, you can also find the next Dave Chappelle or the next Jerry Seinfeld opening or headlining during the week at venues such as the Laugh Factory, the Comedy Store, the Ha Ha Cafe or the Improv. For sketch and improv comedy, you can find the laughs at the Upright Citizens Brigade and Groundling theaters. Groundlings alumni include Will Ferrell, Paul Reubens, Jon Lovitz and Conan O'Brien.

Music

Los Angeles is a city where musical acts come to catch a big break or where they come for a victory lap. Either way, you're getting something you'll be telling your friends about later. Shows and venues can range from intimate and close, at places such as the Troubadour or the Largo, to bombastic and huge, at larger theaters such as the Hollywood Bowl or the Nokia Theatre. For the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Los Angeles Opera, your destination is the Performing Arts Center of Los Angeles. The Music Center's campus includes the Walt Disney Concert Hall, which was designed by Frank Gehry.

Tours

For the first-time visitor to the city, the standard day-time tour isn't enough to truly see Los Angeles. For the entire picture, a night tour of Los Angeles gives you what you need, and there are an array of tours for anything you want to see. The tours go down Hollywood and Sunset boulevards, showing off Grauman's Chinese Theatre and the Walk of Fame, before swinging over to downtown or over to Beverly Hills and Rodeo Drive. Many of these tours start at Universal CityWalk, making them a great way to continue the fun after a day spent at the Universal Studios theme park.

Food

Los Angeles is a foodie mecca and has the critically acclaimed restaurants to prove it. Indeed, the Los Angeles area alone has 20 different Michelin-rated restaurants, with all different kinds of cuisines and chefs represented. There are the celebrity chefs such as Gordon Ramsay at the London or Wolfgang Puck's Spago. Also, there's the variety of two-star cuisines such as the Japanese at Urasawa, the high-end French at Melisse, and the new and exciting cooking techniques at Providence.
