Being out in the great outdoors is fun for most people, but it can also be grimy and dirty, leaving you feeling ready for a shower after just a few days. Packing along the right sanitary equipment and supplies for your next camping trip can help you have a fun time and feel a bit cleaner and more refreshed.
Toiletries
Being away from home doesn't mean you have to do without all your essential toiletries. Pack your toothbrush and toothpaste and find some running water to brush your teeth. Or, pour some water over your toothbrush and and rinse it off using the same cup or glass. Pack all-natural soap and shampoo if you plan on bathing in the lake or if showers are provided. They're safer for the waterways and prevent toxic chemicals from being distributed into the natural environment of your camping site. The last thing you want to forget when you're miles away from civilization is toilet paper. Pack more than you think you need for the trip, and try to find biodegradable toilet paper, which will break down in the environment faster than regular sanitary tissue.
Portable Bathroom Equipment
Manufacturers have made just about every creature comfort in a portable version for camping or other similar activities. Simple portable toilets come in handy for people hesitant to just go out in the woods and feature a sturdy seat with a disposable plastic bag to conveniently catch and dispose of the waste. Portable showers---a simple enclosed tent-like structure---come in handy when you need to get the grime of the outdoors off your body. If you don't have room for an entire portable shower, try bath wipes. Like baby wipes, they can help clean off your body and help you feel more refreshed, after which you just toss them in the trash.
Cleaning Items
Not only do you need to keep your body clean, you'll have to wash your dishes and other items as you camp, so pack along a pot big enough for boiling dishwashing water, as well as biodegradable dish soap. Hand towels dry just as quickly and are more environmentally friendly than using a whole roll of paper towel, so pack those along for drying dishes. Pack plenty of large, sturdy trash bags and have them on hand all over camp in order to keep your area clean and free of litter and stray food.
