Suave markets its hair products as budget-friendly alternatives to more expensive hair-care brands. Its coconut conditioner is one of several fruit- and plant-based hair care products in its Naturals line. Its ingredient list includes several active ingredients that help the product to protect and condition your hair for a glossy appearance.

Water

Water is the largest ingredient in Suave's coconut conditioner in terms of its proportion to other ingredients. It acts as the base in which the product's other ingredients function.

Cetearyl Alcohol

Cetearyl alcohol works as both a stabilizer in Suave's conditioner and also helps to make the conditioner thicker and more viscous, according to the University of Cincinnati NetWellness site.

Chlorides

Suave's coconut conditioner holds three forms of chlorides. The first, cetrimonium chloride, is a form of ammonium salt, according to the Personal Care Products Council. It's commonly found in hair- care products and helps to cleanse the hair by killing bacteria and other microorganisms, and also helps to shield the hair from static electricity buildup. Potassium chloride is the second chloride and it helps to make Suave's conditioner more thick, says the council. The final form, distearyldimonium chloride, functions as both a hair conditioner and also blocks static from the hair, according to the Environmental Working Group's Skin Deep Cosmetic Safety Database.

Fragrance

Suave incorporates unspecified fragrances into its coconut conditioner to help to mask the smell of the chemicals used and also impart the sweet, tropical scent for which the conditioner is known.

Disodium EDTA

Disodium EDTA works as a chelating agent, according to the University of Cincinnati NetWellness site, helping Suave's ingredients to bind together and to your hair.

Glycerin

Manufacturers commonly incorporate glycerin into personal care products like conditioner. It functions as a humectant, says the University of Cincinnati's NetWellness site, helping to attract moisture to your hair for conditioning purposes.

Preservatives

Suave adds 2-bromo-2-itropropane-1, 3-diol as a preservative, according to the Environmental Working Group, as well as methylchloroisothiazolinone and methylisothiazolinone. They help to extend the conditioner's shelf life and keep it from spoiling.

Propylene Glycol

Propylene glycol helps to condition and hydrate your hair, reports the University of Cincinnati site NetWellness.

Natural Products

Suave incorporates silk amino acid, honey, nettle and rosemary extract, and coconut. These natural additives may help to condition and enhance your hair's health and strength.
